About

I’m Hannah Phillips, founder of Mustard Garden Design; a designer, gardener and educator living in North Norfolk. I am a sunny soul and I love creating spaces.
I fell in love with gardening and outdoor spaces over ten years ago, and I love to spend time outdoors in the rhythm of nature. Gardens are deeply personal spaces, and they’re all charmingly unique – I honestly believe that anyone can make a beautiful garden.
My own garden is soft and wild, with spaces for relaxing and eating, a kitchen garden full of edibles and cut flowers, a greenhouse and potting shed where the magic happens, a small orchard filled with spring bulbs and wildlife, deep borders full of frothy plants and a narrow sweep of lawn for a whippet raceway.
My personal planting and design style is naturalistic, soft and wild. I love tall and billowing borders filled with grasses, prairie style plants, and reliable herbaceous perennials. I aim to create spaces that look and feel magnificent but are, in fact, relatively low-maintenance, great for wildlife and provide seasonal interest.
I adore colour, and find immense satisfaction in bringing the beauty of the garden into the house all year long. Cut flowers, dried seed heads, wild flowers and evergreen stems are all welcome inside and such a simple pleasure.
Nature, it’s magical.
So join me, and let’s adore it together.
